PRESS CONFRENCE BULGE SIGHTING

As if on cue, about a year after the BULGE was sighted during the Presidential Debates of '04... our pesky Presidential Bulge has made a special "anniversary" appearance.

Today President Bush held a full-fledged hour long news conference, complete with a question and answer session. While the President's speech seemed to go quite smoothly, Bush seemed to slip up ... a dozen or so times... during the Q&A session. It was the classic Bush pauses and slow speech as the 'hard' questions rolled in... nothing new there.

However, today the President seemed to go back to that odd speaking style that brought us "BulgeGate" in the first place. If you look close at the way Bush spoke today, the frequent stalls then sudden "blurting out" of facts and talking points, the idea of wireless prompting of answers almost seems obvious.

The video can be found on the White House site . There are especially interesting "stammer and pauses" throughout the video, but the idea of answer prompting really seems plausible at approx: 45:30.

Better yet! As the President turned and walked off I thought I saw that tell-tale Bulge shape that we all know so well by now. Within minutes of the conference I received a few dozen e-mails from people who thought they saw the Bulge on TV. Apparently, it was quite obvious on the multi-angled CSPAN coverage... I can't say, I didn't see it. The video on the CSPAN website is too fuzzy to see anything well... but here is the CSPAN VIDEO link.

I did some screen grabs and light enhancing with Photoshop... the compression makes it difficult to tell exactly, but it looks like the Bulge is back!!!

Updates if anything develops.

I saw the conference it was funny and he was prompted for sure. but so what! these guys do this all the time its not illegal or anything. professional speakers use prmpting all the time, why is the president different?

using prompting at the debates is another issue and it probably WAS ILLEGAL, but its too late now to do anything about it. Rove shut it down.

nice try though.

REMEMBER... way back whenever MANY instances of presidential prompting were reported. Most took place BEFORE the debates and the "bulgegate" story, and all of them at press conferences.

It lends creedence to the idea that prompting IS a part of Bush's normal speaking methods. The technology exists and Bush has been photographed with similar devices... though they may not have been used for prompting (Secret Service).

The real point is:
- Did Bush cheat during the debates? If so, he should be called on it.
- Its also important to remember that he was seen with the Bulge after his 9/11 Commission testimony... was he prompted for that? That would be bad.
- Don't forget the fascinating conspiracy/cover-up that followed... or the President's outright lie about it all on a TV interview.

Personally, I don't have a big problem with prompting during press conferences. Its pretty tacky, and I would prefer a President that can articulate his own thoughts without the aid of handlers... but all-in-all it's not the end of the world.

If Bush used prompting for debates or testimony thats a whole different ball of wax.

keep up the good work thanks for continuing to hold the torch on this important scandal. this story was huge but bush had the power and crushed it with the help of the new yrk times. now that bush is on the ropes from katrina and iraq and the supreme court maybe someone couls bring this back to the medias attention. its still unanswered and a weird story that holds bigger issues. I see people write about it all the time nobody forgot nobody looks deeper though.

what happened to Lindorff and Salon did they ever follow up on the stories?

bring it back while the media is daring to ask hard questions from the white house.

I happened to be in my car listening to the press conference and I distinctly recall hearing Bush "answer" a question. It would be slow and I immediately thought "he must be wired again and getting answers from an outside source." It was so obvious! Then I stumbled across this blog, confirming my suspicions. Stay on it!!

Stumbled past the press conference in question last week and couldn't believe my eyes and ears. Why is the world not screaming about this, I thought.

Response to the statement that prompting is "not illegal or anything." Besides it being embarassing to have such a ninny for our President, the issue is that the most dangerous man in the world, installed after a disputed election, is being controlled by the invisible and unaccountable. We may not feel like we re-elected W much, but we certainly didn't elect the voice in his ear.

Love your blog.

Wrote to all the press on your list today.

Love your blog. Talk about focus!

I listened on the radio so I missed the video. Anyway, I especially loved when answering a question, he mistakenly started to say "Saddam" when he meant to say "Osama" he did correct, but it was a slight awkward moment. I'm sorry I missed his expression and likely jaw jutting when he realized his mistake.

can't believe this was what politics was about in 2005, nowadays even the onion articles seem too boring since reality is so absurd. oh how far did we come. nowadays we wake up to some ridiculous news of what president done or said this time, kinda getting used to it and it became the new norm, can't even remember how calm it was during GWB era. On the other hand it was much harder to obtain rs gold fast nowadays it's like less than 5 min, often much less and it's all yours, as much as you want, so I guess there's good and bad things.

What happened to reward based on merit? Making the process more easy was a step in the ideal path, but I feel like it is placing a band-aid onto a gunshot wound. It's already easy enough to reach 2mil range with no spendingas long as you have an ounce of merching skill and maplestory 2 mesos basic common sense. The real issue that needs to be addressed is increasing the problem of attaining endgame status for people who cover, Maple M mesos for sale so that random people don't reach 2mil scope in the situation of days simply by emptying their pockets then proceed to put in to a limitless source of end game gear, a phenomenon I see too frequently these days.
